REAL MADRID
Vinicius Junior "I don't want to be another Neymar"
The youngster speaks about Neymar and while he takes notes to improve himself by watching Neymar, he wants to build his own career and bring happiness to all of Brazil.
Vinicius is the man of the moment. The youngster is just 17 and has signed for Real Madrid for €45 million. He is currently excelling at Flamengo, where he opted to stay on loan after signing with los Blancos, thanks to the management of Carpegiani. After being picked as one of the 500 best players in the world by magazine World Soccer, he is now in Goal.com's top 50 under 19 talents in world football (that list will be released in full on Wednesday).
One of the comparisons he has to deal with is being the 'new Neymar' but the attacker is not entirely happy with it. "I don't pay attention to the comparisons, but I always try to follow Neymar. I have more more contact with him nowadays and, when I see him play, I try to take notes to improve myself. I don't want to be another Neymar, I want to build my own career and spread happiness to everyone in Brazil," he told Goal.
The young talent has scored 10 goals in his first 1,835 minutes of professional football. At the same point in his career, Neymar had eight. Neymar, himself, has taken to the player and just last week invitied him to his luxurious mansion in Mangaratiba just outside of Rio, where he recovers from ankle surgery.
Real Madrid have high expectations too. They signed him at 16 for a huge sum and while his "dream is to win the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian league title, to have at least one great day with Flamengo," los Blancos believe he is ready to make the move and he will make the jump next summer.
