Real Madrid-Atlético Madrid: Raphael Varane misses training
Varane remained in the gym as Zinedine Zidane's men began preparations for Sunday's LaLiga derby against Atlético Madrid.
Having been given yesterday off after Tuesday's Champions League win over Juventus, the Real Madrid squad returned to training today as they began preparations for their derby clash with Atlético Madrid.
As expected, Nacho was absent from the work-out at Valdebebas as the defender continues his recovery from a thigh injury suffered at Las Palmas on Saturday.
Varane unable to train with Real Madrid group
And with three days remaining until this weekend's LaLiga meeting with Los Rojiblancos, Raphael Varane handed head coach Zinedine Zidane a further defensive concern by missing group training.
The Frenchman was confined to the gym for the entirety of the session, and appears doubtful for Sunday's week 31 match at the Bernabéu.
Ramos-Vallejo centre-back pairing in the offing
If Varane misses out, Real's most likely defensive pairing would be Sergio Ramos and youngster Jesús Vallejo, who started alongside Los Blancos' club captain in last weekend's 3-0 league victory at the Estadio Gran Canaria.
