The Juventus 'keeper saw red after protesting referee Michael Oliver's decision to award a penalty for Medhi Benatia's challenge on Lucas Vázquez. AS's resident referee Eduardo Iturralde believes Oliver got the decision wrong, but Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored the subsequent spot-kick, does not understand why the Juve players were complaining.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper had a fine game before losing his composure following the penalty incident, and it is likely that this will be his final European match with Juventus.
The Serie A leaders lost 0-3 in the first leg in Turin, but had managed to claw back the deficit in the Bernabéu with two goals from Mario Mandzukic and another from Blaise Matuidi when Ronaldo struck in added time to make it 4-3 on aggregate.
