Lucas Vázquez proved decisive in the Champions League quarter-finals against Juventus, something that has become habitual this season in the 26-year-old winger.

The penalty awarded against the Serie A champions was the fourth the Galician has earned for Real Madrid this season after two against Numancia in the Copa del Rey and another in LaLiga away at Las Palmas. Behind Vázquez come Toni Kroos and Gareth Bale, with two each, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Theo Hernández and Achraf Hakimi, who have all seen the referee point to the spot once in 2017-18.

That means that Vázquez accounts for 29 percent of Real’s penalties this season. With eight goals he is Real’s fifth-highest scorer and no player has assisted more goals than the winger’s 10. Benzema has nine and Ronaldo and Isco eight each.

Taking into account his penalty awards, all of which were converted, Vázquez has had a direct hand in 22 goals for Real Madrid this season, a mark only bettered by Ronaldo, who has participated in 48.

Vázquez’s return stands above Bale (21), Benzema (19), Asensio and Isco (15) and Kroos (13).
