Many Paris Saint-Germain fans will have breathed a little easier when they saw Neymar's social-media activity this morning. The Brazilian is the face of the club's 2018/19 kit launch and, as part of the publicity surrounding the release, took to Twitter with the message: "Proud to wear the jersey and to continue giving you joy".
It's a post which, on the face of it, suggests he could well turn his back on a potential move to Real Madrid and remain at the Parc des Princes. However, this is a transfer saga that is sure to have many more episodes in it and, when it comes to Neymar, experience says anything could happen next.
Neymar's post reminiscent of Barcelona kit-launch comments last year
At the end of May 2017, while still a Barcelona player, he was likewise among the squad members used to promote his club's strip for the following campaign - and, speaking to the Blaugrana's official website, declared: "Pulling on the new Barça kit for the first time creates a mixture of pride and optimism for the season ahead."
Yet it is a shirt that he did not wear beyond pre-season.
Following months of speculation, and promises by the Barça board that Neymar would be staying, the star's departure was confirmed on 3 August after PSG triggered his 222m-euro release clause - a deal which, in combination with the capture of Monaco's Kylian Mbappé, may see the Parisians punished by Uefa for falling foul of 'financial fair play' regulations.
