The current problems being experienced at Sporting Clube de Portugal show no signs of abating after Desportivo Aves pulled off a major shock at the Nacional do Jamor stadium in Oeiras today beating the men in green and white to lift their first ever major silverware bagging the Portuguese Cup (Taça de Portugal).

Two goals from Alexandre Guedes in either half were too much for one of the traditional "Big three" of Portuguese football who were thrown a late lifeline as Montero clawed a goal back for the Lisbon giants. Time ticked down and the side who play at the compact Estadio do Aves with a capacity 5,441 tasted glory to the delight of the fans who had made the journey south from the town of Aves with it's population of 8.500 in habitants.

Aves now take their place in the 2017/18 Europa League whilst a massive clear-out is guaranteed at Sporting following their failure to secure a Champions League place and the internal unrest at the club which culminated by an attack by 50 Juve Leo ultras on members of the first team squad and staff.
