Eleven days have passed since Zinedine Zidane shocked the world of football with the news that he would stand down as Real Madrid head coach. Despite Argentine Mauricio Pochettino still at the top of the Madrid wanted list, club directors are acutely aware that Spurs owner Daniel Levy will do all he can to retain Pochettino at White Hart Lane. Other managerial names have been touted in following Zidane on the Bernabeu bench such as Allegri, Antonio Conte, Laudrup, Sarri, Tite with Portuguese Andre Villas-Boas being the latest in line.

Radio Montecarlo claim that the 40-year-old is a serious consideration for many Real Madrid club officials with the coach currently available following his departure from CSL side Shanghai SIPG FC last December.

Villas-Boas started his coaching career along with Jose Mourinho and there have been many parallels in their respective coaching journey. Villas-Boas cut his feet with FC Porto before moving to Chelsea. Many were happy to tag him as the "New Mourinho" something that Villas-Boas has always deflected stating that I should be called the "The Group One" as I know that football management is a team effort.

To date he has won one Europa League, Portuguese Cup and Super Cup with FC Porto along with a domestic Russian league, Russian cup and Super Cup with Zenit.
