Barça museum 'forgets' to include Cristiano Ballons d'Or
With hundreds of thousands of visitors expected over the summer, there may be some who are surprised to see some rival information missing from their tour.
The hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting the FC Barcelona Museum during this summer will be able to cast an admiring eye over the titles collected by the Catalan club this past season. LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Uefa Youth League have all been conquered and the museum rightly updated to reflect them. But a few metres away, in their review of footballing history, the administrators appear to have forgotten to include a record of the last two Ballons d'Or won by Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano's missing records at Barça museum
Just in front of the space dedicated to Barça's Lionel Messi, where the Argentines's individual trophies are exhibited, there is a mural where the club proudly proclaims that their players over the years have won more Ballons d'Or - the award given out by France Football magazine to the player voted as the best in the world - than any other club's representatives. However, the numbers associated with other clubs have not all been updated, specifically to include the most recent two won by Cristiano Ronaldo.
"With 11 titles FC Barcelona leads the ranking of clubs with the most Ballon d'Or wins in Fifa history," reads the sign below a gallery of images of all the Barça winners. Underneath, sits the list of other teams ranking, however, with Serie A clubs AC Milan and Juventus sitting in joint second place with Real Madrid on eight, the awards for 2016 and 2017 have not been added. Los Blancos are actually just one behind their eternal rivals with ten trophies.
The museum is the first part of the visit to the Barca stadium, a major tourist attraction in Barcelona. Every year more than 1.5 million people visit it at 25 euros a pop.
