Shardul Thakur to replace Jasprit Bumrah in India's ODI squad
Injured pacer Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury to his left thumb during India’s first T20I against Ireland in Dublin.
Fast bowler Shardul Thakur will replace injured pacer Jasprit Bumrah in India’s squad for the upcoming three-match one-day international (ODI) series against England starting 12 July.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Shardul Thakur as Jasprit Bumrahs replacement in India’s ODI squad," the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary said in a release.
Bumrah suffered an injury to his left thumb during India's first Twenty20 international against Ireland in Dublin. The 24-year-old was ruled out for the rest of the series, with the hope being that the pacer would recover in time for the ODIs against England.
However, as BCCI confirmed in a statement, Bumrah will not be available against England.
"Bumrah underwent a surgery on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in Leeds before returning to India," said the statement. "The surgery was successful and he will commence rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team."

In total, he has played three ODIs and seven T20Is for the Men in Blue.
He was in prime form for the Chennai Super Kings in the latest Indian Premier League season, claiming 16 wickets from 13 matches.
