Barcelona awoke this morning to find a striking front page headline in Mundo Deportivo: the local sports daily carries an exclusive story about PSG’s intentions to make an offer of upwards of 270 million euros for Philippe Coutinho. But according to the report, Barcelona, who are yet to receive a formal offer from PSG, would have no intentions of selling the Brazilian star, unless the Parisian club are willing to pay his 400-million-euro release clause.

This is not the first time PSG has looked to sign the 26-year-old. In January, when Barcelona had practically closed a deal with Liverpool for the player, PSG made a last-ditch effort to disrupt the negotiations in an attempt to steal the player from under the noses of the Catalan club.

Are PSG preparing to lose Mbappe or Neymar?

News of PSG’s offer for Coutinho could suggest that the club are preparing for the exit of one of their two biggest stars, Neymar or Kylian Mbappe, and are looking for a suitable replacement. But according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona, at this current time, are not willing to let go of Coutinho, who scored two goals, made two assists and was one of Brazil’s standout players at the World Cup in Russia.
