A delegation from Barcelona led by the director of football, Pep Segura, and the technical secretary, Eric Abidal, are in Paris with the intention to sign Adrien Rabiot according to several media outlets in Barcelona. The French midfielder's contract expires in 2019 and Barcelona have been interested in his services for the las couple of years.

Paulinho's departure has left a hole in Barcelona's midfield with the need for a physical player who covers lots of ground, is good in the air and solid going backwards too. Rabiot, who was critical of his own side after the were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League, has decided not to renew his contract with the club and negotiating a deal should be fairly straight-forward.

At 23 years of age, Rabiot was left out of the World Cup by Didier Deschamps. This was the second set-back during a season, after the Real Madrid disaster, that might have forced him to re-evaluate his current situation. At the moment, Segura and Abidal are in Paris and given his situation, a usually reluctant PSG team could be willing to negotiate.
