Theo takes the plane to US, but Real Sociedad loan move is imminent
Theo Hernandez has joined his Real Madrid teammates on the trip to the United States, as the agreement for this loan move to Real Sociedad has yet to be finalized.
Theo Hernandez landed in Miami with the rest of the Real Madrid squad for the preseason tour of the United States, where ‘Los Blancos’ will play Manchester United, Juventus and Roma ahead of their Spanish Supercup meeting with Atlético Madrid on 15 August.
The French defender is close to a loan move to Real Sociedad but that has been put on hold for the moment. He was spotted boarding the plane that took the team to Miami, minutes before the club officially announced the list of 32 players who will participate on the tour, which includes the Frenchman.
The 20-year-old arrived at Real Madrid last summer from Atlético last summer for 30 million euros, but his first season at the Bernabeu was disappointing due to a lack of game time and a string of poor performances when he did play. Real, however, are confident in the potential that he showed during his loan spell at Alavés in 2016-17, which is why they are now seeking to loan him out to a club that can offer him a regular starting position.
Negotiations with Real Sociedad ongoing
Despite the fact that an agreement with Real Sociedad was not finalized before Real flew out to the United States, sources have told AS that the negotiations are ongoing. The agreement would see Theo go to Real Sociedad for one year on loan but without the option to buy. But because the deal has yet to be finalized, Theo has joined his Real Madrid teammates on the trip to the US.
