Casemiro back in training but no sign of Marcelo
The Brazilian midfielder worked in the gym and on the field after his break but Marcelo, who was also supposed to be back, did not show up.
Casemiro has returned to training at Valdebebas in Madrid as he looks to get into shape for the European Super Cup just around the corner. The Brazilian midfielder worked in the gym together with S&C coach, Javier Mallo. After that, he took to the field and did some interval running to get him back into the swing of things.
Marcelo was also supposed to report back to the Ciudad Deportiva in Valdebebas but he was not present with rumours swirling around his future at the club. The only other players missing are Raphael Varane, Mateo Kovavic and Luka Modric. They have one week left of holidays after playing in the final but will be back next Sunday.
Lopetegui wants his player to have joined up for a little over a week to be considered for the Super Cup in Tallinn against Atlético on August 15th. "You have to beat Atlético in whatever way, with nice football if we can, but the important thing is to win the first title of the season to make sure we don't stop the triumphant run the club has been on over the last three years," he said at his first press conference in Miami.
