Aleix Vidal completes return to Sevilla from Barcelona

The Sánchez Pizjuán board will pay €8.5m for their former player, with an additional two million in add-ons after Vidal signed a four-year deal.

Update:
Aleix Vidal completes return to Sevilla from Barcelona

Sevilla and Barcelona have agreed a deal that will see Aleix Vidal return to the Sánchez Pizjuán on a four-year deal after spending three seasons at Camp Nou, with Barça pocketing €8.5 million for the right back with a further two million in add-ons.

Vidal moved to Barcelona in 2015 from the Nervion side for an overall fee in the region of €18 million. Pablo Machín pushed for the signing of the right-back, who was excellent for Sevilla, before his move to Barcelona. He was linked even before Machín took over and the move was finally confirmed on Saturday.

The 28-year-old has been pushing for a move too as things failed to pan out as he might have hoped in Barcelona, a serious ankle robbing him of any continued development or consistency at the club.

Ernesto Valverde's arrival at Camp Nou signalled the end for Vidal as Sergi Roberto was preferred with Nelson Semedo picking up the slack when necessary.

Sevilla have now made six signings ahead of the new season, Vidal joining Roque Mesa, Ibrahim Amadou, Tomas Vaclik, Sergi Gómez and Joris Gnagnon.

The arrival of Vidal places Sébastien Corchia's future in doubt. The French right-back moved from Lille last season but has failed to show his best form in Spain.
