Filipe Luis wants to leave Atlético Madrid and has offer from PSG
Carrusel Deportivo (SER) has revealed the Brazilian player's intentions after Lucas Hernández started ahead of him in the European Super Cup.
Filipe Luis could leave Atlético Madrid in this summer's transfer market, which remains open until the end of the month.
Felipe could leave Atlético Madrid
According to Carrusel Deportivo on Spanish station SER, the full back is targeting a move away from the Spanish capital before August 31. His current contract with Atleti ends in June 2019, something that has not been resolved after several failed attempts by the club to get him to renew. Spanish paper El Mundo states that the situation is more advanced than just a desire from the player, stating that an attractive offer is already on the table...from French giants PSG.
Filipe was a substitute in last Wednesday's European Super Cup victory over Real Madrid in Tallinn, despite the fact that the Brazilian had returned to training before Lucas Hernández with the intention of starting the game. But manager Diego Simeone preferred the young Frenchman.
Simeone needing back-up
If indeed Filipe was to leave the Wanda Metropolitano club, Simeone would have a problem in that position, at least in the short term. Back up for Lucas could have been found in new signing Jonny but he was shipped out on loan for a year to Premier League new boys Wolverhampton Wanderers. Instead, Atleti would likely have to dip back into the market. Despite reports of the PSG offer, sources have shared with AS that no official news of PSG's interest has been made to the club.
The Rojiblanco technical team have had an eye on Bayern Munich's Bernat, who they believe could fill this poistion well. A decision is expected to be made by the club next Tuesday but there is still a chance that Filipe could play in Mestalla against Valencia in their opening fixture.
