Lopetegui gets Real Madrid ready for Girona trip with Vallejo out

Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui, is finalising his plans for the visit to Montilivi to play Girona on matchday 2 of LaLiga Santander, with kick-off on Sunday night at 22:15 CEST. Today the coach held a training session with a markedly lower intensity compared to his recent sessions. The Basque coach had all his players available with the exception of the injured Jesús Vallejo.

The young defender should be the only player out as Madrid look to build on their winning start to their LaLiga campaign, having beaten Getafe at the Bernabéu on Sunday.

Lopetegui waiting on transfer moves

As he waits for a number of players' situations to be resolved, including the departure of Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and striker Raúl de Tomás, Lopetegui has ensured he remains focused on the match against Girona, at the same time as hopes Bernabéu bosses will be able to bring in reinforcements up front before the transfer window closes on 31 August.

New training ground moves for Real Madrid

With less emphasis on physical exertion today, the Real Madrid players worked with the ball, practiced finishing and played mini-games. They also spent time playing 'The floor is lava!' a new training ground routine that is worth watching.

Real Madrid will have their final training session before the Girona game on Saturday morning, starting at 11:00 at the Valdebebas facilities. The first fifteen minutes will be open to the press.
