Iker Casillas: 19 years since the Saint made his Real Madrid debut
On September 12, 1999, the World Cup-winning keeper made his debut against Athletic Club in San Mamés, the game ending in a 2-2 draw.

On the 27th of November, 1997, Casillas was included in a Madrid squad for the first time at the age of 16 for a Champions League game against Rosenborg.

His debut would come two years later in 1999 against Olympiacos, with the game ending 3-3.

On May 24, 2000, Casillas won his first Champions League when Madrid beat Valencia 3-0 in Paris.

Two years later, on May 15, Casillas would add his second Champions League title when Madrid defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in Glasgow.

Casillas soon gained a reputation for making spectacular saves at Real Madrid, earning the nickname "El Santo" (the Saint).
