Real Madrid expecting Gareth Bale back on Monday
While Wales have stated that the player will undergo a fitness test tomorrow, Real Madrid understand that Bale will not feature in the Republic of Ireland game.
Julen Lopetegui is expecting to be able to count on Gareth Bale from Monday when Real Madrid will begin preparations for next Saturday's league game against Levante. Bale is still with the Wales squad, despite being ruled out for last week's friendly against Spain due to muscule fatigue and it looks like he will not feature in Tuesday's match against the Republic of Ireland.
At least that is what Wales coach Ryan Giggs hinted after the Spain game: "I'm not optimistic that we'll have him for the next game. We don't want to risk Gareth because we want to return him to his club, Real Madrid, in good conditions. We’re treating the symptoms but it’s nothing to worry about. Either way, I expect him to be fit for Madrid’s next game", Giggs told the media in his post-match press conference.
Wales' medical will take another look at Bale tomorrow with one last fitness test to see whether he will be able to star against Ireland but as Madrid understand it, he won't be forced to play and they expect him to report for duty on Monday.
