What €575 million could buy Real Madrid in the transfer market
Real Madrid have not made a big signing since 2014 and they have committed €575 to remodelling the Santiago Bernabeu which could buy them...
The last big Real Madrid signing was James Rodríguez in 2014 when he was brought in for €75 million with another €10 million added on as incentives. Since then, the club has looked to conserve the best parts of their squad and incorporate more young talent into it: Vinicius (45 millones), Courtois (35), Odriozola (30), Theo (30), Ceballos (16,5), Asensio (3,7).
Little by little, however, the team that won the double in 2016-17 has been getting older and losing pieces with the loss of Ronaldo in the summer to Juventus marking the end of an era.
With that transfer, Real Madrid lost 50 goals a season. Cristiano player 450 games in nine seasons at Madrid and was their top scorer in every one of those but the club decided not to get involved in the transfer market. Neymar's price would have surely exceeded the €222 million PSG paid for him, if he was available at all and they decided they were confident in the players at their disposal including Bale, Benzema, Asensio, Lucas and Isco.
Real Madrid can't score this season
Real Madrid are currently in their longest scoring drought since 1985 and haven't scored in four games with many fans pulling their hair out. How can they continue without investing in an attacker with Mariano the last to be splashed on with him currently acting as Benzema's back-up. They have committed almost €600 million to remodel the Bernabeu when they could buy a brand new attack to end the problems they are suffering on the field.
Based on their transfer values from Transfermarkt, Real Madrid could buy Neymar (180 million), Mbappé (150), Salah (150) and Icardi (95). Obviously, clubs can ask for what they like for these players and they would likely be a lot higher but based on pure market value, these are the prices stated. Amongst the four, they could cost €575 million. They have already scored a combined 29 goals this season. Last year, they scored 122 in total with 28 from Neymar, 21 from Mbappe, 44 from Salah and 29 from Icardi. As for Real Madrid, the wait for a goal continues.
