LALIGA

LaLiga is suffering from a crisis in front of goal

This season has seen the least amount of goals in 12 years and there is just an 11-point difference between top spot and last.

Messi, tirando una falta.

LaLiga Santander, after eight games, is suffering from a lack of goals like we haven't seen in recent years. In addition, the leaders have the least amount of points since victories became worth three with a difference of 11 points between first (Sevilla) and last (Huesca).

After 79 games this season, there have been just 196 goals, 26 less than last season. This goal crisis seems to be affecting 13 teams. Barcelona (from 24 goals to 19 this season), Atlético (13-9), Real Madrid (15-12), Valladolid (16-7), Betis (17-5), Real Sociedad (19-12), Celta (18-13), Getafe (10-6), Valencia (21-6), Athletic (10-9), Rayo (13-7) y Huesca (11-7).

The teams who have improved and gotten worse

In contrast, six teams have improved their goalscoring tally and their positions in the table. Sevilla, who lead the league, have scored nine more goals than this time last year, and have jumped from fifth to the top spot. Espanyol have gone from 12th to 5th adding four more goals. Alavés have eight more goals and have gone from 19th to 6th. There's Eibar too, who have six more goals and jumped four spots in the standings along with Girona, who have three more goals and jumped up two spots with Eusebio in charge. Leganés have scored the same amount of goals but have fallen from sixth place to 18th.

Stuani is the current top scorer with eight goals and he sits ahead of André Silva (7) and Messi (6). Aspas and Ben Yedder are next in line with five goals. Real Madrid's top scorer is Benzema with four and the rojiblancos have Griezmann and Correa both sitting on two goals.
