Real Madrid eyeing up AC Milan's Suso, claim Italian media
The Spanish winger has the second highest goal participation in Serie A behind Ronaldo, and it is not first time he has been linked with Real Madrid.
According to Sport Mediaset Italia, Real Madrid are eyeing up AC Milan’s Suso. The 24-year-old Spanish winger has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 10 Serie A matches, and in terms of goal participation in Serie A, he is just behind Ronaldo, who has seven goals and four assists.
Suso’s contract with Milan ends in 2022 and his release clause is set at 40 million euros for teams outside of Italy. The player is in talks with Milan to improve his contract, and according to the Italian media, Florentino Perez would see this as an opportune moment to make his move, in a bid to bring him in during the January transfer window.
"It's a source of pride to be linked with Madrid, Barça or City, but Milan is a great club, I would not go to another Italian club," Suso recently told Tuttosport, seemingly ruling out a move to another Italian side, but leaving the door open to a offers outside Serie A.
Since moving to Italy, the Spaniard has played for Genoa and AC Milan, scoring 21 goals in 101 games. It is not the first time that he has been linked with Madrid. He was reportedly on the radar of Julen Lopetegui when he took over this summer, but apparently the Basque coach’s interest waned after he felt that Milan had set his price too high.
But considering Madrid’s struggles adapting to life post-Ronaldo, Suso could be an ideal January addition, although the yet-to-be-appointed new coach will probably have his say on the matter.
