Esperánce Sportive de Tunis: Real Madrid's rivals at the Club World Cup

ES Tunis were proclaimed Champions of Africa after beating Al-Ahly 3-0 tonight. The Tunisian side will be one of Real Madrid's rivals in United Arab Emirates next month.

Espérance Sportive de Tunis were proclaimed champions of Africa this evening after staging an historic fightback to beat eight-time winners Al-Ahly. The Tunisians managed to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg to win the return leg 3-0 in front of their own fans in Radès. Apart from lifting the continental crown for the third time in club history, Espérance also automatically book their place at next month's FIFA Club World Cup in United Arab Emirates as CAF's representatives and the CAF Super Cup - a trophy they have won just once, in 1995.

ES Tunis secure Africa's berth

At the Club World Cup, Espérance will meet the winners of the First Round tie between Al-Ain and Team Wellington on 15 December. Real Madrid, who enter the tournament as European champions and the cup holders, will enter the Club World Cup at the semi-final stage in Abu Dhabi on 19 December.

Asian and South American representatives

The identities of the the second Asian representatives and South American champions for this year's tournament are not yet known but all will be revealed after Kashima Antlers and FC Persepolis resolve their return leg on Saturday which the Japanese side go into with a 2-0 advantage. Also joining Real Madrid, Espérance, CD Guadalajara, Al Ain and Team Wellington at the Club World Cup will be the winners of this year's Copa Libertadores - an all Argentinean affair between Boca Juniors and River Plate with the first leg to be played on Saturday and the return, at El Monumental a fortnight later. The Club World Cup takes place from 15 December to 22 December.
