Barcelona await update on injured Rakitic
The midfielder was taken off on 67 minutes during Thursday's Nations League game between Croatia and Spain in Zagrab.
There is concern in Barcelona this morning as the club await news on Ivan Rakitic who picked up an injury in last night's Nations League tie between Spain and Croatia. The midfielder retired from the game on 67 minutes complaining of pains to his hamstring.
Barcelona officials are keen to ensure that Rakitic doesn't overexert himself and would prefer him to return to Spain to be examined by the club's own medical staff. Barça are worried that the player might force himself to play Sunday's decisive Nations League clash with England at Wembley in which both countries and Spain have a chance to book their place in next June's finals. However, he would risk aggravating his injury and could suffer a more serious problem such as a muscle tear.
Ruled out of Atlético game
Rakitic was alreadty ruled out of Barça's next league game - against Atlético de Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on 24 November as he is serving a one-match suspension after being sent off against Betis last weekend. The midfielder ended last season as the player who clocked up the most games in the Barça squad with 70 games for club and country in total.
