Asensio and Varane pull out of Real Madrid training
Ahead of the Club World Cup semi-final, Santiago Solari has some concerns over a number of players, while Benzema gave some hope.
Real Madrid trained for the first time on Monday within the facilities of the New York University of Abu Dhabi, ahead of their semi-final match of the Club World Cup on Wednesday against Kashima Antlers.
Doubts over Asensio
The worrying note for Santiago Solari was regarding Marco Asensio. As part of his recovery from an injury picked up against Rayo Vallecano, the young player was out of the field but had to retire from the session after pulling up from a sprint. He is a serious doubt for the Kashima clash.
Another question mark hangs over Rafael Varane who was also unable to complete training, returning to the changing rooms around 45 minutes into the session. There was better news on the fitness of Karim Benzema, who trained normally despite coming off against Rayo on Saturday after a knock to his left ankle. Bale, Mariano and Nacho continue with their respective recovery processes.
