Pep: 'Only four teams have played football against us'

The Spanish manager names the four sides who have come out to play football against his Manchester City team this season.

Pep Guardiola was asked what teams came out to attack his Manchester City side and while he came up with three immediately, he had to think of the fourth. "Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Everton and not too many more," he replied.

City have beaten Liverpool and Everton but also drew with Klopp's side and lost to Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea in some tactically fascinating games this season. He says teams that sit deep against his City side tend to help them as they are not as susceptible to counter-attacks and set-pieces.

The Spanish manager's team will play Newcastle on Tuesday and expects Rafa Benítez to sit deep against his charges. "They defend very well, but I have a feeling we can attack better and concede fewer set-pieces," he said.

Guardiola is also aware of the atmosphere at St. James' Park and says "for the last 15 minutes of every game we played against them, when they were losing, they changed their system to attack more" and knows they won't go down without a fight.

He also thinks his side have become more intuitive in different situations and believes they have learned how to "defend a little better in areas where we have suffered in the past."
