Girona-Real Madrid: Modric, Odriozola and Brahim miss out

Keylor Navas and Marco Asensio return to Santiago Solari's squad for the trip to Montilivi with captain Sergio Ramos and Fede Valverde included.

Update:
Girona-Real Madrid: Modric, Odriozola and Brahim miss out
DANI SANCHEZDIARIO AS

Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari has announced his squad for the return leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Girona and confirmed the return of Marco Asensio and Keylor Navas to the line-up after the forward and keeper recovered from injury.

Real take a 4-2 lead to Montilivi after the opening leg and it was expected that Solari may lean on some of his fringe players to push his side over the line but January signing Brahim Díaz, who arrived for 15 million euros from Manchester City amid significant fanfare, hasn’t made the squad at all.

Since joining Madrid, Brahim has made just three substitute appearances – eight minutes against Betis in the league and 14 minutes across the two legs of the previous round of the Copa against Leganés.

Fede Valverde, who is enjoying slightly greater protagonism under Solari, is included with Luka Modric handed a rest and Álvaro Odriozola also held back with Alavés in mind due to Dani Carvajal’s suspension for the Liga fixture.

Striker Mariano also misses out despite returning to full training this week after injury, with Vinicius included again after his stand-out performance in the first leg.
