Rakitic's agent says his client won't be leaving Spain this summer
The Barcelona player and his agent, Arturo Canales, are keen to get a new deal from Barcelona but have a contract until 2021 and will wait it out.
Ivan Rakitic's agent, Arturo Canales, says that his client's potential departure from Spain this summer as a "impossible scenario" according to 'La Gazzetta' with quotes from Passioneinter.com. The agent, who prefers to do his work away from the spotlight of the media, makes clear that the Croatian is not considering leaving LaLiga.
Josep Bartomeu promised a little present in the form of improving the midfielder's contract when he heard of PSG's offer. Las week, Rakitic said he gave the president of the club a little nudge in order to get him involved in contract negotiations. In the same interview, Rakitic said he loved it at Barcelona and planned on staying for a long time yet.
He has a contract until 2021 and is keen to wait it out in order to get an improved deal to remain even longer. Despite the signing of Frenkie de Jong, Rakitic is waiting for a contract improvement but Barcelona want to wait to see what the summer brings. He is an example in the dressing room and an undisputed starter. If they don't renew his contract and improve the current terms, they might be willing to sell the player though as they try to lower their wage bill.
