Rodrygo wants to move to Madrid in July as Santos push for longer loan

Santos are insisting on keeping the attacker until January but he wants to move to Real Madrid in July for a couple of reasons including following Vinicius.

Rodrygo returned to Santos after the break for the South American under-20 tournament and he returned with a goal as his relationship with Jorge Sampaoli got off to a flying start. The 18-year-old will play under Sampaoli for the next four months before his future unfolds before him. Santos are trying to extend his loan stay until January 2020 but As understands that the attacker wants to start with Real Madrid in July from the very start of preseason.

The reasons for his desire to start are two-fold. For one, he believes that if he joins in the January, the adaptation process from Brazil's weather to Madrid in winter would be too difficult and he would prefer to move to Spain when it's warm.

He is also keen to follow in Vinicius' shadow. Flamengo also tried to keep hold of their young star but he insisted and the Brazilian club relented. Vinicius arrived in July and was there from the start to show Julen Lopetegui his talents and the chemistry between himself and Benzema was forged from those early days in summer.

Sampaoli has asked the kid to forget about Madrid for now. "He needs to commit in the months ahead, it's his obligation," said the Argentine recently. They have already been paid €20 million and the other €25 million will be paid once he steps foot in the Spanish capital as a Real Madrid player.
