Ramos records documentary in VIP lounge as Madrid crash out

Sergio Ramos suffered watching Real Madrid lose their Last 16 return to Ajax and subsequently bow out of the Champions League from his own private VIP lounge at the Bernabéu. The Madrid captain was unavailable for the game as he was hit with a two-match suspension by UEFA for deliberately trying to get booked in the first leg. The centre-back took it for granted that Madrid would be in the quarter finals and wanted to wipe his disciplinary slate clean for later rounds.

Plan backfires

But Ramos' plan backfired. Ajax turned the tie on its head at the Bernabéu and it is they who will be in the quarter final draw, not Madrid. And while his team mates tried to save the day out on the pitch, Ramos used his time to film parts for a documentary which Amazon are making about him. A camara recorded Ramos watching the game from his own, suite - personalized with his own logo (SR4).

At half-time, with the score at 0-2, the captain went down to the dressing room to give the players encouragement. Earlier, he had spent the day with the others at the players' residence in Valdebebas trying to keep morale high.
