UFC star Conor McGregor said he was working on his patience and thanked fans for their support after he was arrested and charged in Miami.

McGregor charged by police after Miami incident

Miami Beach Police charged McGregor with strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief on Monday.

The 30-year-old Irishman, who avoided jail time after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct following an incident at UFC 223 last year, allegedly destroyed a fan's phone after they attempted to take a picture of him.

Patience "a virtue I continue to work on"

Addressing his supporters for the first time since his arrest, the controversial McGregor posted a fairly cryptic message on his Instagram page.

"Patience in this world is a virtue I continue to work on," he wrote. "I love my fans dearly. Thank you all."

Former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor is serving a six-month ban following a brawl involving Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team as he was beaten at UFC 229 in October.

With his suspension up in April, McGregor could be set for a return by as early as June amid talk of a matchup against Donald Cerrone.
