Despite the problems between US Soccer and the USMNT regarding the friendly match against Venezuela, the United States have continued their preparations for this summer's Gold Cup by announcing that the Stars and Stripes are heading to Washington D.C.

The US national team will face Jamaica at D.C. United's Audi Field on 5 June - the first time the side have visited the stadium since it opened back in July 2018.

That friendly game could eventually be followed by a re-match at the Gold Cup - if both countries top their sections in the tournament's group stage, they will meet in the quarter-finals on 30 June at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The USMNT face Venezuela on 9 June at Nippert Stadium in another warm-up game before the Gold Cup, which starts the following week.

Gregg Berhalter

The Gold Cup will be the US' first official competition under head coach Gregg Berhalter, who so far has won three and drawn one during his time in charge. The United States have lifted six Gold Cups - most recently in 2017 - and are one behind Mexico's record haul of seven.

The Jamaica friendly will be the United States' first outing after the official 23-man squad for the Gold Cup is submitted.
