Neymar to play 600th game in cup final PSG return
The Brazilian star is hoping to get back to action following his long lay off as the French champions target the double against Rennes.
For Neymar, the French Cup final offers him the chance to pick up more silverware with Paris Saint-Germain but it also carries with it a symbolic connotation. The Brazilian star will, if he plays, complete 600 games as a professional.
Neymar joins the 600 club
The Brazilian superstar has been a professional footballer for ten years, dating back to his debut on 9 March 2009. The milestone is a sum total of the matches played for Santos, Barcelona and PSG, as well as those in the Brazilian national teams (including the under-17 and under-20 categories by which time he had already signed a professional contract.
Across his 599 games to date, Neymar has a team record of 392 wins, 107 draws and 100 defeats and individually he has scored 378 goals. It has included him winning 21 titles for his clubs and the national team, among which were the 2013 Confederations Cup and the Champions League in 2015 with Barcelona.
Following his injury on 23 January, Neymar made his return to action as a second-half substitute against Monaco last Sunday, a 3-1 win that clinched the Ligue 1 titie. Edinson Cavani and Ángel di Maria are also in contention for places in the showpiece final at the Stade de France on Saturday evening.
