According to Algeria's ObservAlgerie, Zinedine Zidane is closely monitoring the development of Olympique Lyon's promising striker Mathis Rayan Cherki. Real Madrid are even planning on making a bid for the 15-year-old with Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas determined to do all in his power to ensure the emerging talent stays with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Cherki turns 16 on August 17th and will then be eligible for a transfer under FIFA ruling with media outlets claiming that the player's family have already agreed to move to Madrid.

Rayan Cherki has impressed this season after becoming the youngest ever player to score in the UEFA Youth League bagging a consolation goals for his side  as part of a 1-4 defeat to Manchester City in September 2018.

The player was born in the French city of Lyon to Algerian parents and has forged his footballing path in the Lyon youth academy with talk of a move to Chelsea when the player was just 12 years of age. In this time the likes of Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Ajax have all offered interest in one of Ligue 1's brightest talents. Lyon president Aulas is furiously working behind the scenes to ensure that Cherki remains with Lyon. "He's a hugely talented boy and with a family who love Olympique Lyon and we are a club that can offer him his earliest professional debut".
