Eden Hazard: Real Madrid to present Belgian on 3 June
Following Chelsea's win in Wednesday's Europa League final, where Chelsea beat Arsenal in Baku, Los Blancos aim to waste little time in confirming the transfer.
The new faces of Real Madrid's 2019-20 squad move ever closer to being officially unveiled, and assuming no complications in the coming few days, Monday 3 June will see Chelsea's Eden Hazard join Los Blancos.
Hazard, who scored twice and was the man of the match in Chelsea's 4-1 win over London rivals Arsenal in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, said after the match: "I think it’s a goodbye, but in football you never know. My dream was to play in the Premier League and I did this for seven years in the biggest club in the world, so maybe it’s time for a new challenge"
Hazard on the verge of signing for Madrid
Winning the Europa League final in Baku had been Hazard's main focus at the end of the season, as he was desperate to leave on a high the club he has served exceptionally for seven seasons since moving from Lille in 2012. With that trophy now collected, the Belgian's attention can now turn to his next challenge: wowing the Santiago Bernabéu crowd and the millions of Madridistas around the globe.
Florentino Pérez, during his interview with Onda Cero on Sunday, acknowledged that the Belgian is the primary objective of the new project under Zinedine Zidane, although was reluctant to go too far considering the big game on Wednesday for the player.
Jovic and Mendy expected soon
Hazard's presentation will be the first, but not the only one over the coming days in the Spanish capital. Madrid are still deciding which dates are most appropriate for both Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy given their international commitments. Jovic's deal is already complete, while the Lyon man is on track to be finalised soon, with Zidane getting the player's agreement to the move.
Another presentation in the pipeline is that of the young Brazilian star, Rodrygo, currently on loan at Santos.
