Lenglet: "We're all attentive for Griezmann's announcement"
The Barcelona defender was quizzed about France team mate Antoine Griezmann’s departure from Atlético Madrid and his possible move to Camp Nou.
Clement Lenglet is currently training with his France team mates ahead of their upcoming friendly against Bolivia and Euro 2020 qualifiers against Turkey and Andorra.
And in a press conference at France’s training base in Clairefontaine, the Barcelona defender was quizzed about France team mate Antoine Griezmann’s departure from Atlético Madrid and his possible move to Camp Nou.
Griezmann announced his departure from Atlético on May 14 and is expected to make the switch to Barcelona after having been heavily linked with the LaLiga champions for several months. But the 28-year-old striker is still yet to confirm where he will be plying his trade next season.
Lenglet heaps praise on Griezmann
And regarding Griezmann’s mooted move to the Catalan capital, Lenglet could not confirm if he would be sharing a dressing room with his compatriot next season, but chose to heap praise on his France team mate’s successes in Spain.
"Griezmann is one of the three or four best players in LaLiga,” he said. “He is a star and he has been in the competition for several years. He has scored many goals every season. He is the star of Atlético and also one of the great figures of the league.”
But when pressed on the topic of Griezmann’s possible switch to Barcelona, the French defender would only add: "Griezmann has said that he is leaving Atlético, but not where. We still do not know what team he will play with. We will have to wait, but we are all attentive to when he will announce it.”
