Barça press ponder tantalising prospect of new front trio
The cover page of the sports daily Mundo Deportivo features a photomontage with Griezmann, Messi and Neymar accompanied by the headline: “Why not?”.
Speculation surrounding Barcelona’s upcoming movements in the summer transfer market continues in the Catalan capital.
With reports that Antoine Griezmann agreed terms with Barca in March and speculation that Neymar wants to return to the club, the Catalan press has been left foaming at the mouth about the tantalizing prospect of a new attacking trident at Camp Nou – a trident in which Luis Suarez doesn’t feature, at least that is the case on the front page of Mundo Deportivo this Saturday.
The cover page of the Barcelona-based sports daily features a photomontage with Griezmann, Lionel Messi and Neymar accompanied by the headline: “Why not?”, leaving no space for the Uruguayan striker.
However, for now, Mundo Deportivo can only fantasise as the arrival of Neymar is still far from reality, while Griezmann’s signing is yet to be confirmed by club or player.
Sport claims Betis' Junior is top Barca target
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s other big sports daily, Sport, opens with a story about another possible Camp Nou signing this summer: 22-year-old Spanish-Dominican Junior Firpo. Valued at 30 million euros, the Betis player is reportedly a prime target of the Blaugrana who would come in to compete with Jordi Alba at left back.
Sport also claims on its front cover that the hypothetical arrival of Neymar is a divisive topic among players, staff and fans. While the dressing room would be in favour of Neymar’s return, opinion amongst both the club’s board and its fans is not so clear cut.
