The international press were critical of Argentina's disappointing Copa América opener against Colombia - a result which leaves Lionel Scaloni bottom of Group B.

Olé (Argentina)

Argentinean daily Olé were one of the most scathing in their summary of the defeat: "Could have been much worse" was how they summed up the team's display. "Argentina had a drab debut outing  in the Copa América, losing 2-0 to Colombia y cayó por 2-0 (Roger Martínez and Duvan Zapata). Argentina were a shadow iof themselves in the first half and barely had 15 good minutes at the start of the second half. On Wednesday, they play their second game against Paraguay".

La Nación (Argentina)

La Nación, another of the big papers in Argentina ran with the headline: "The national team were a let down and crashed to defeat on their Copa América debut". The report highlighted the team's dismal performance, and the problems they had creating chances in the opponents' half. "It wasn't the best of debuts for Argentina; it left a sensation of dissatisfaction. The next few days will be filled with self criticism and reassessment", wrote Claudio Mauri.

Globo Esporte (Brasil)

In Brazil, the tournament hosts, Globoesporte were full of praise forCarlos Queiroz's team. "Messi was nowhere to be seen; Colombia deservedly beat Argentina in Salvador".

El Espectador (Colombia)

"A great debut by Colombia, who defeated Messi's Argentina". The newspaper went on to acclaim Carlos Queiroz's gameplan: "He wasn't fazed by facing Argentina, or Messi. He held nothing back, fielding an attacking side against the albiceleste. The team ran out 2-0 winners and Queiroz could not have wished for a better start in the new era, post-José Pékerman".
