Juventus: Nedved presents De Ligt and Pogba offers to agent Raiola in Monaco - reports
According to Tuttosport, Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved has met with the agent of Matthijs De Ligt and Paul Pogba in a bid to secure both players' signatures.
Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved has been in Monaco to make one last-ditch effort to sign Matthijs De Ligt, according to reports in Italy.
Joined by Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici, Nedved met with the Ajax defender’s agent, Mino Raiola, in a bid to sway a decision on the player’s future, Italian daily Tuttosport has claimed this Monday.
As it stands, PSG are understood to be best placed to land De Ligt after the club reportedly proposed a generous five-year deal worth some 12 million euros a year, while also matching Barcelona’s 75-million-euro offer to Ajax.
Juventus’ last salary offer is understood to have been in the region of 10 million euros a year, with the Turin club also reportedly prepared to match the 75 million transfer fee.
Barcelona, who were the early favourites to land the young Dutch centre-back, have fallen behind in the race to sign the player and are reportedly not prepared to enter a bidding war with the other interested parties.
Pogba also on the table at Juve-Raiola meeting
At the meeting between Raiola and the Juventus executives, Paul Pogba (also represented by Raiola) was another a topic of conversation.
The Manchester United midfielder suggested he was open to a move away from Old Trafford at a marketing event in Tokyo on Sunday, saying: “I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.” And both Real Madrid and his former club Juventus are keen to sign the 26-year-old World Cup winner.
Juve want Pogba to return to form an important part of the new project under incoming coach Maurizio Sarri, while Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has similar designs on the French midfielder at the Santiago Bernabéu.
