Barcelona: PSG will demand €300m for Neymar

According to Le Parisien, PSG will demand 300 million euros for Neymar should Barcelona come looking to bring him back to Camp Nou.

Speculation has intensified in recent days linking PSG star Neymar with a return to Barcelona, the club he left for Paris for a world record fee of 222 million euros in 2017.

On Tuesday, Spanish radio programme El Laguero claimed that the Catalan club had already made contact with Neymar’s camp and were prepared to offer PSG 100 million euros for the player, plus Dembélé, Rakitic or Umtiti.

However if reports in France on Wednesday are anything to go by, Barca’s board will have to up their offer significantly if they want to pry the Brazilian striker from the hands of PSG’s owners.

According to French daily Le Parisien, PSG chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi has set the price on Neymar at a staggering 300 million euros – 78 million more than they paid for him two years ago.

Reports were that PSG were open to letting Neymar go after Al Khelaifi came out to say the club would no longer accept players partaking in “celebrity behaviour”. Although by setting a 300-million-euro price tag, PSG would be clearly setting a deterrent for any club to sign him.

PSG chairman Nasser Al Khaleifi will expect Barcelona to surpass the record he set when signing Neymar for 222 million euros in 2017.

Neymar: “I want to return home”

Neymar has a contract at the Parc de Princes until 2022 but recent reports suggest that he wants to leave this summer for Barcelona.

"I don't want to play here anymore. I want to return home; I never should have left,” was his message to Al Khelaifi according to the front page of Catalan sports daily Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday. Meanwhile GOL has reported that the 27-year-old Brazil international has already begun looking for a house in Barcelona.

But whatever happens over the course of the summer, it would seem that PSG and Barcelona have a long way to go before coming to common ground regarding the player’s price tag.

The LaLiga giants would more than likely have to include one or more members of its current squad as part of any deal in order to make up part of PSG’s restrictive 300-million-euro valuation.

If Neymar wants to move “home”, it could likely be the most expensive move in footballing history.
