Mbappé could be next to jump ship at PSG

As Neymar looks very likely to leave PSG, their other star, Kylian Mbappé is still not considering renewing his contract at Parc de Princes, according to reports in France.

In May at the French Football Association awards gala, Kylian Mbappé called for “greater responsibility” and hinted at the possibility of taking on a “new project” beyond Paris Saint Germain.

The club has listened to its 20-year-old star by giving him more weight in the team, but even so, it remains unclear if the striker will remain at Paris beyond next season.

With Neymar provoking his fall-out with the club because of his attempts to engineer his exit, something which now looks very likely, Mbappé has become the main man at PSG, both on and off the field.

Last week, he started the pre-season with a bang, netting two goals’ in the French club’s 6-1 thrashing of Dynamo Dresden. The young Frenchman is receiving glowing praise from both the dressing room and the boardroom. The club’s new sporting director, Leonardo described him as “incredible” and predicted his future to be at “the level of Messi or Ronaldo” – although it looks very possible that his future will not be at Parc de Princes.

Mbappé still not considering PSG contract renewal

According to Le Parisien, Mbappé is still not considering renewing his contract at PSG, which expires in 2022. The French daily claims that Leonardo has yet to venture into beginning formal negotiations with the player, but the club is in constant contact with him and his family and are now more receptive to his points of view, in a bid to keep him happy.

The young striker expects even more symbolic gestures from the club, such as making him the designated penalty taker this season. It won’t have gone over his head that had he been in that position last season, he would have, with almost all certainty, beaten Lionel Messi to the European Golden Boot.

Real Madrid plan to sign Mbappé in 2020

PSG  issued a statement assuring that Mbappé will continue at the club this season, but beyond that his future seems very much up in the air. And Real Madrid, who have been trying to sign him since he started to draw attention at Monaco, will be very attentive to his situation.

With Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez having decided to return to his old model of signing one Galáctico, every year the plan is to ensure that Mbappé doesn't renew his contract with PSG and then move to snap him up in 2020.
