Josef Martinez had an outstanding weekend, breaking the consecutive matches scoring record in MLS history and dazzled as Atlanta United overcame NYCFC winning 2-1.

The Five Stripes striker bagged both goals in the game making league history and also earned the MLS Player of the Week award, his second of the season and eighth since joining MLS in 2017.

Martinez's two goals against New York see him in second place in the scoring chart with 20 goals in 22 games played this season behind LAFC captain and leader, Carlos Vela.

Player of the Week

Each week an MLS Player of the Week is chosen by the media and a fan voting process conducted by MLS Communications, with 75% of the vote going to North American Soccer reporters and a Twitter fan vote representing the remaining 25%.
