Jill Ellis just clinched her second World Cup title during the summer with the US women's national team, a job she will step down once the victory tour is over next month, and despite not knowing what's next in her career, Ellis is open to a men's game coaching position.

During a FIFA conference, the USA women's coach said she wants a challenge that would motivate her and an option to coach a men's team is indeed a challenge she would like to take.

"I love challenges, at every juncture in my career, I have sort of taken the road less traveled, I love to build things. At this point you don't rule out anything, I think with the men's game, there are a lot of differences, a lot of similarities. The financial part is much, much bigger but the game is the game."

Ellis takes France's national women's team coach Corinne Diacre as a reference since Diacre coached a French second division men's team.

"We have had Corinne, we have had women who have coached men's teams, I don't think it's anything out of the realm of comprehension, we have female coaches in the States, in the NBA, in the NFL, I think it's about ability and proficiency, not gender.

If Jill Ellis opts for a men's game coaching job, she will become the highest-profile female coach to take charge of a men's team.
