My lovely horse: Odriozola buys a racehorse before Mallorca game

Odriozola invested in the yearling that was sired by the Epsom Derby Champions and it cost him €50,000 as he expands his Bernardo stud in San Sebastián.

My lovely horse: Odriozola buys a racehorse before Mallorca game

Álvaro Odriozola wasn't at the races on Saturday night against Mallorca. The right-back was sent off for a second yellow in the second half as Real Madrid fell to the promoted side. It was their first loss in the league this season and it was a tough one.

Just before the game, however, Odriozola went out and treated himself. The 23-year-old went out and bought himself a horse before the game. He has a real love for horses and spent €50,000 on the purchase. It was the most expensive yearling (one-year-old) in the auction at the Zarzuela in Madrid.

The horse he bought was sired by the winner of the Epsom Derby 'Australia'. The 64 horses sired by Australia have been sold for more than half a million euro.

Odriozola's yard, Bernardo, is located in San Sebastián Ramón Avial and they recently sold a yearling at Tattersalls auction. A week before they sold a horse at a Paris auction. That was co-owned with Pedro Mateos and only went for €30,000.

He is not the only one with a fondness for horses. Sergio Ramos owns the SR4 stud and owns the famous 'Yucatán de Ramos'. The horse with pure Spanish blood was named as the champion of the world at Madrid's morphology show.
