Messi's World Cup frustrations

"I would have loved to be world champion, but I don't think I would change anything I have had in my career to achieve it," admitted the Barcelona star.

In addition to this, the Argentine revealed that he has already resigned himself to the fact that he will retire without lifting football's greatest prize.

"I have what I have, what God has given me. It is something."

A wonderful career

After winning four Champions Leagues with Barcelona, numerous LaLiga titles, and the single-season scoring record in his name, his outlook on the national team is one of frustration after frustration. That has included three lost finals: World Cup in Brazil 2014, and the Copa America in Chile 2014 and the United States 2016.

Messi also recalled the comment he made to the same outlet in 2005, just after winning the under-20 title with Argentina in the Netherlands.

"At that time I could not have dreamed of everything I have done since. My career has been much greater than I could ever have imagined," he reflected.
