REAL MADRID

Real Madrid player ratings vs Galatasaray: Rodrygo shines with hat-trick

A hat-trick from the Brazilian along with an assist and a double from Benzema helped Real Madrid over Galatasaray in convincing fashion at the Bernabéu.

Real Madrid player ratings vs Galatasaray: Rodrygo shines with hat-trick
GABRIEL BOUYSAFP

Courtois: Very quiet night for the Belgian. Not a whole lot of work to do and everything he was asked to do, he did it calmly. A shot from Babel was saved in the first half just like it was in the second. He continues to build his confidence game after game - 7.

Carvajal: Constantly a threat from the right. He delivered the ball for Benzema's second and he was solid defensively against Babel, who was probably Galatasaray's most threatening player even though that's not saying much - 7.

Varane: Reliable at the back, not like the game against Betis. The same as Ramos, he was very attentive of Andone and shut him out completely - 7.

Sergio Ramos: Scored the third goal for Real Madrid with a beautiful panenka. Strong in his defending and tight on Andone until he was replaced at the break. Switched off occasionally but never any trouble on the night - 8.

Marcelo: Returned to the starting line-up after being a sub against Betis. Had to be replaced after 42 minutes with an issue with his left leg. He created two chances and was often seen overlapping Hazard as they reigned supreme on the left. Went straight to the dressing room after being replaced - 8.

Valverde: Like Marcelo, he returned to the starting line-up after being left on the bench for the Betis game. The Uruguayan put on a shimmering display as a box-to-box midfielder. Moved across the entire attack at pace and conviction. Also showed some signs of his excellent technique with a 'roulette' to pass to Rodrygo. Formidable in defensive duties too - 9.

Casemiro: Committed, safe and always solid. Had a goal that was chalked off for offside, which was the correct decision. Slipped into central defense several times to allow Carvajal to do damage in attack. Subbed off for a well-deserved rest after 60 minutes - 7.

Kroos: Directed the orahcestra once again. Forced the penalty to make it 3-0 when he had his foot stood on. Organised Madrid's attack and showed his best form - 8.

Rodrygo: Madrid's best performer and a performance for the ages. 18 years of age and scored two goals within the first seven minutes. The first was a smart finish into the bottom corner after a nice control with his chest. The second was a slick glancing header and the third one, he started on the left and finished with a poke home. He also had an assist - 10.

Benzema: He needed to score one to equal Alfredo di Stefano's record. The Frenchman did that and more with a double. He showed off his best qualities, which included linking play and bringing Hazard and Rodrygo into the game, and he scored two striker's goals - 9.

Hazard: Continues to improve with every game. More free in this game and more like himself. Lacks the finishing touch but got into nice position and drifted by defenders with ease just like the Hazard Madrid bought. Still has a way to go but the signs are there that Hazard is getting back to his best - 7.

Substitutions

Mendy: Replaced Marcelo. Had the entire second half to show off his ability and did that with some powerful runs into enemy territory. He was good going forward, defended well and even had a chance in the penalty area - 7.

Modric: Came on for Casemiro. He had 30 minutes to make his mark and while he didn't do anything wrong, he wasn't particularly lively either although the game was over when he came on. Linked with Valverde a couple of times. Occupied the middle in Casemiro's stead - 6.

Isco: Hazard made way for Isco after 68 minutes and nearly scored with his first touch from a corner. Relatively quiet night after that with not much to do in a game that was already decided - 6.
