“One of the possible destinations for Luka Modric is the wonderful city of Miami. One of the owners of Inter Miami is very interested in bringing Modric in to play the final years of his career. Real Madrid will let him leave; he’ll be 35 next summer,” Inda said.

Modric will be unlikely to be allowed to leave before the end of the current season despite the emergence of Fede Valverde, who has started ahead of the Croatian three times in LaLiga in 2019-20. However, Modric’s contract expires in June 2020 and there has been no advance by either club or player to negotiate an extension.

Inter Miami will face competition for Modric’s signature from their Serie A namesake in Milan and the midfielder has suggested his future may lie in Italy. Inter have been very eager to sign Modric in the past and will not be disinclined to take him on a free next summer. The player can start negotiating a pre-contract with non-Spanish clubs in January.

Other names on Inter Miami’s wish list are Barcelona’s Luis Suárez, Real Madrid midfielder James Rodríguez and Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, who may be open to a January move after seeing Mauro Icardi move above him in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes.
