AC Milan: Messi and Guardiola wanted in Arnault takeover
Leo Messi and Pep Guardiola are part of a proposed takeover of AC Milan by Bernard Arnault, the world's third-richest man according to Forbes.
French billionaire Bernard Arnault, the world’s third-richest man according to Forbes and owner of the LVMH conglomerate that includes Luis Vuitton and the Möet Hennessy brands, has reportedly set his sights on the acquisition of Serie A club AC Milan, and wants to sign Pep Guardiola and Leo Messi to spearhead a new era of glory at San Siro.
La Repubblica reported on Wednesday that Arnault, whose net worth is estimated at $106.6 billion, is willing to fork out whatever it takes to buy out the current owners of Milan, Elliott Management Corporation, with a view to reuniting Messi and Guardiola at San Siro after the pair’s successful partnership at Barcelona.
Messi and Guardiola at AC Milan a hard road to travel
Arnault’s plan will not be easy to achieve, with Messi unlikely to leave Camp Nou unless it is for a ridiculous offer and Guardiola apparently settled at Manchester City, but with the kind of funds at his disposal Arnault is one of few people who could even entertain the notion outside of the realms of extreme impossibility.
Among Arnault’s other interests are a vast art collection, a share in Netflix, the Princess Yachts company and several châteuax. The French magnate has yet to dip his toe into the world of sport but could capitalize Milan’s gradual fall from grace over the past decade with a sumptuous offer for the Serie A giants.
