Club World Cup: Facilities available for fans with special needs at Khalifa International stadium

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (in charge of projects for 2022 World Cup Qatar) have reserved a sensory room at Khalifa International stadium especially for children with autism and conduct disorders, so that they will be able to enjoy this week's games at the Club World Cup in a relaxed atmosphere with all our their needs at hand.

The Committee guarantee that rooms with specialist facilities for fans with special needs will be available throughout the Club World Cup in Qatar. Two sensory rooms are already prepared - one at Khalifa International stadium and another at Al Janoub stadium which was first used in May for the Emir of Qatar Cup final between Al-Sadd and Al-Duhail.

The new sensory rooms form part of a initiative by the Committee and Ontario Center for Special Education, with the Khalifa International being the first sports stadium in the world to offer a room for  individuals with disabilities.

During the recent Arabian Gulf Cup, students from the Renad Academy, who teach autistic children, were able to watch the game between Qatar and Yemen with their families at the Khalifa.

Miaad Al-Aamady, Director of Communications for the Committee, explained: “We can guarantee that everyone, without exception, can enjoy the World Cup and our objective is for everyone to have a good time watching football. It is also worthwhile mentioning that the rooms for individuals with special needs are not only for them but for their families too".

Renad Academy’s Parent Teacher Association president Aisha Al-Aamari, who attended a game with her daughter, adds: “The atmosphere in the room is relaxed and comfortable and access to the seats in the stand is safe. I am hoping to attend matches at 2022 World Cup Qatar and I feel very happy that I will be able to watch games, in the stands, with my daughter".
