Pogba's agent confirms Madrid interest but says he's staying at Manchester United
Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, has told The Telegraph that Real Madrid were interested in his client during the summer but says he's staying at United.
Paul Pogba's future remains connected to Manchester United despite interest from Real Madrid, Mino Raiola, his agent, has told 'The Telegraph'.
"Paul wants to be successful and happy and wants to win prizes, and he would love to do that with Manchester United," said Raiola. "OK, there was big interest from Real Madrid and Manchester didn't let him go. We didn't make a fuss about it, and he didn't make a fuss about it because I work in accordance with the player.
The French midfielder has been out since 20 September with an ankle injury and has been ill recently, further delaying a return to training. Real Madrid were keen to sign Pogba in the summer and sounded out Donny Van de Beek as a potential replacement although that never materialised either.
Solskjaer says Pogba will stay at United
On Friday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rejected the idea that Pogba would be leaving the club. "He's a fantastic player, charismatic personality, and for us we're happy that he's here," Solskjaer told a news conference ahead of Sunday's meeting with Watford. "There's all these hypotheticals. I've just answered he's not going to go."
We know we've got one of the best players in the world when he's playing well. He needs time to get fit of course but he'll make a difference for us."
