The supporters who head to the World Cup 2022 in Qatar will have the chance to enjoy a host of spectacular tourist attractions from the very start of the tournament.

Update:
Mangrove swamps... a tourist attraction for the fans at the World Cup 2022

Despite the small size of the Arab country and the lack of historical attractions, Qatar has a number of tourist sites which the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, responsible for the preparation of the World Cup, is aiming to promote as attractions which can be visited and enjoyed during the tournament.

One of these are the Mangrove Swamps located to the north of the coastal city of Al Khor, North Qatar, close to the Al Bayt stadium, one of the venues which will host the World Cup, and the second largest in the country.

The mangrove swamp is a perfect place for rowing in kayaks. The area is also known as Purple Island, due to the purple dye produced for thousands of years from the sea snails which live in the region.

In the run-up to the World Cup the Committee will publish more videos of other tourist attractions in Qatar, such as the cultural district of Katara, the Souq Waqif, Banana Island and the Sealine beaches among other attractions.
